Behind the Scenes of the Anti-Semitism Crisis: Investigations Reveal Secret Files of the British Labour Party

Shocking details recently revealed just how fast the traditional British political establishment has cracked down on the rise of former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, a longtime supporter of the Palestinian cause who won the party leadership in 2016, with the help of the right-wing press as well as left-wing publications such as the Guardian.

However, what shocked everyone the most, which was revealed by the documentary investigations, was the campaign of the Labour Party itself by its bureaucrats to oust former leader Jeremy Corbyn, especially ahead of the party's general elections in 2019, by misleading and distorted accusations of failing to address the sharp rise in anti-Semitism in the party, which ruined Corbyn's chance of becoming prime minister.

It is noteworthy that many observers indicated that the main British media ignored the Labour files that were broadcast by Al Jazeera, even though it had played a key role in the campaign to undermine British democracy and silence critical voices of "Israel" in that period.

A 2020 independent report by the Commission for Equality and Human Rights concluded that there were unforgivable failures in the Labour Party, with its members belittling or ignoring many complaints and cautions by Jewish members.

Demonization Campaign

On 23, 25 and 27 September 2022, Al Jazeera Channel broadcasted three episodes of an investigation titled The Labour Files, which it described as the largest leak in the history of British politics.

The investigation, produced by the Al Jazeera Investigative Unit (I-Unit), was based on leaked documents from the opposition party estimated to be 500 gigabytes, containing emails, social media messages, and phone calls to senior officials between 1991 and 2021.

I-Unit's findings confirmed the view of many Corbyn supporters, who believe the former Labour leader was subjected to the most brutal political assassination in recent British history.

The investigation pointed to the efforts of politicians and pro-"Israel" entities to get rid of Corbyn because of his long history of defending the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people.

The documentary also revealed the dangerous role played by political alliances in directing malicious complaints of anti-Semitism to Corbyn and a large number of his party colleagues who publicly expressed their positions on the issue of Israeli apartheid and the use of the party's disciplinary system to undermine members and local branches that supported it.

On his part, a member of the Labour Party revealed during his interview in the film that "February 3, 2017, was the day anti-Semitism was first used as a political weapon against a pro-Corbyn candidate," the Middle East Monitor (MEMO) reported on July 23, 2022.

The member noted that Corbyn's opponents often denigrated pro-Corbyn members by making false and fact-free allegations, accusing them of abuse, anti-Semitism, inflating the allegations, and manipulating on social media without any objection.

According to the report, "the leaked documents revealed that only after the departure of Corbyn, the first British politician to carry the Palestine flag at his party's general conference, did his critics begin to acknowledge that anti-Semitism had been weaponized by pro-Israel groups to silence political opponents."

For example, bullying and harassment of other Labour activists by pro-Israeli Luke Stanger has been exposed.

"What is surprising in the case of Luke Stanger is the velvety manner in which senior Labour officials dealt with the pro-"Israel" activist in a velvety manner; Stanger's extreme behavior led to his suspension from the Labour Party rather than his expulsion from the party," The report noted.

The report also showed how although the Labour Party purged the party of left-wing activists and critics of "Israel" on flimsy or fabricated pretexts, it rewarded pro-Israeli members, as in the case of Ella Rose.

Rose is a member of the Jewish Labour movement, who was employed at the Israeli Embassy in London, and became a member of the Labour Council, although he was caught on camera threatening a pro-Corbyn Labour member.

Zionist Lobby

The attacks on Corbyn and his supporters are part of ongoing campaigns to confuse criticism of "Israel" with anti-Semitism and silence Jewish anti-Zionist voices who oppose the apartheid state's policies.

For decades, Israeli pressure groups have been promoting the idea of a new fake anti-Semitism, claiming that this new form of anti-Jewish racism is directed not against individual Jews but against the Jewish state.

Governments across the Western world, including the Labour Party, have embraced this proposal largely as a result of pressure from pro-"Israel" organizations and are currently using a controversial definition of anti-Semitism.

"From the moment Corbyn was elected he faced complete opposition and resistance from party bureaucrats," Alex Nunes, former speechwriter to Jeremy Corbyn, said in the investigative film.

Whereas, in the film, Paul Davis, a Labour member who had earlier dropped out, commented: "If you have a core of several people at the national level saying who can be a candidate and who can be a member then you control the body politic of one of the major parties in this country."

"I submitted my resignation from the party at that time because I found that what was happening behind the scenes was undemocratic, it was basically a coup by a group of people to control one of the main parties in Britain," he added.

It is noteworthy that since Corbyn's departure, support for "Israel" and the approval of the Zionist lobby has become a measure of differentiation for the contenders for the leadership of the British Labour Party.

It is also no secret to anyone how the Zionist lobby groups employ the scarecrow of anti-Semitism to distort opponents of "Israel," discourage Western public opinion from sympathizing with Palestinian rights, and push people to accept the Zionist narrative as it is.

In his recently published book, The Prime Ministers We Never Had, British writer Steve Richards explained why Corbyn's rise and fall in the Labour Party led him closer to becoming prime minister.

The writer touched on factors that contributed to Corbyn's failure to lead the political scene in Britain, including the campaign launched against him by his party's deputies supporting Tony Blair, the United States, and "Israel," in which most newspapers, major media outlets and social media bloggers supported them, as Corbyn's pro-Palestinian past and other national issues were exhumed and turned into accusations against him.

The writer noted that Corbyn had taken bold positions against Arab issues in general, especially with regard to the Palestinian cause, explaining that this may have cost him not to reach the position of Prime Minister when he was about to reach it in 2017.

Good Chance

In a related context, opposition Labour Party leader Keir Starmer is receiving more calls to allow his predecessor Jeremy Corbyn to run in the next general election, according to Bloomberg reported on September 25, 2022.

Although Corbyn is still a member of the party, he is an independent deputy in Parliament after he was denied many privileges over the Equality and Human Rights Committee's report on anti-Semitism in the party ranks.

Supporters of the move argue that it would give electoral Labour control over the identity of candidates rather than give the Parliamentary Labour Party a chance and would bridge the rift within the party, which is what other parties prefer not to achieve, such as the Green Party, the Liberal Democratic Party, and the ruling Conservative Party.

While opponents of the move argue that it poses a significant legal risk to the party, others argue that the party should mobilize its energies to fight the Conservative Party rather than the left-wing Labour party.

It is noteworthy that the leaked documents came at a time when the Labour Party leads opinion polls in the country, outperforming the governing Conservative Party.

A YouGov poll for the British newspaper The Times showed the Labour Party led by 17 points over the Conservative Party, its biggest advance in more than two decades.

Another poll, conducted by Deltapoll from 22-25 September 2022, also put Labour in a 13-point lead over the Conservatives.
