It seems that Washington has started to reassess its calculations after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu put it in a dilemma. He did not achieve a military victory that they could talk about against the resistance in the Gaza Strip. Instead, the "eradication" with American weapons and "starvation" exposed the alleged humanity of the West.

Most importantly, he did not achieve "security" for the Israeli Occupation and turned it into a malignant cancerous entity that everyone detests, after Arab regimes were rushing to normalize relations with "Israel," which threatens the old colonial plans behind establishing the Zionist state in the heart of the Arab world.

Even more dangerously, Benjamin Netanyahu may take with him American and Israeli officials before international courts, as the accusations are now also directed at the White House, alongside the Israeli Occupation, for committing the crime of genocide in Gaza through its financial and military support.

Several indicators have begun to emerge, confirming that the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden has decided to get rid of Netanyahu, either through new elections or something akin to a military coup against him, taking advantage of his declining popularity to save "Israel" itself, as a state that America needs to achieve its goals in the Arab region.

Three Indicators

Three indicators can be discussed that confirm the intention of the Joe Biden administration to get rid of Netanyahu, especially since the tension in the relationship between them has reached levels that can be described as a serious crisis and open rift due to significant differences in their views on the aggression on Gaza Strip, as confirmed by the Wall Street Journal on March 15, 2024.

The first of these indicators was Biden's direct attack on Netanyahu for the first time on March 9, 2024, describing him as "harming Israel more than helping it" through his "eradication" of Gaza.

Joe Biden said in a TV interview that it is Netanyahu's right to defend "Israel" and continue to attack Hamas, but he must be more cautious about the innocent lives lost due to the measures taken, and he sees that this harms "Israel" more than it helps it.

He pointed out that the decisions taken by Benjamin Netanyahu that resulted in the killing of civilians were a big mistake.

Following that, an official campaign in America calling for Benjamin Netanyahu's removal began. The reception of the Minister in the War Cabinet, Benny Gantz, leader of the opposing party, who polls give an edge over Netanyahu's party, was to give him the green light to succeed Netanyahu.

The second of these indicators was a special assessment by U.S. intelligence on March 11, 2024, titled The 2024 Annual Threat Assessment, revealing concerns about Israeli Occupation's vision to end the aggression and its danger to "Israel."

The U.S. intelligence community assesses Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's "viability as a leader" to be "in jeopardy," according to its annual report on the national security threats facing the United States that was presented to Congress last week.

"Distrust of Netanyahu's ability to rule has deepened and broadened across the public from its already high levels before the war, and we expect large protests demanding his resignation and new elections," according to the report. "A different, more moderate government is a possibility."

Israeli political analyst Yoav Stern agrees with what was stated in the intelligence report, saying it is true and the street in "Israel" wants change.

The third and strongest indicator is the clear call by the Democratic majority leader in the U.S. Senate, Chuck Schumer, for new elections in "Israel," saying he believes Netanyahu has lost his way during the bombing of Gaza and caused the ongoing humanitarian crisis there.

During a lengthy speech in the Senate Hall on March 14, Schumer said Netanyahu put himself in an extreme right-wing alliance that encouraged the killing of civilians in Gaza, reducing global support for "Israel" to its lowest levels.

Schumer summarized America's demands by saying that Netanyahu's government no longer suits "Israel" needs after October 7, 2023, and it needs to make major corrections in direction.

The importance of this statement is that Schumer is the first Jewish majority leader and the highest-ranking Jewish official in the United States, and he is close to Joe Biden. He is also a strong ally of "Israel," and he was there days after Operation al-Aqsa Flood.

Therefore, the Likud party was upset and responded angrily to Schumer's statements, saying that "Israel" is not a banana republic for an American official to demand a change in government, according to Reuters on March 14, 2024.

The increasing annoyance of the Netanyahu government was further fueled by the U.S. President's endorsement of what the Democratic majority leader in the Senate described as a "good" speech, meaning his support for the demand to replace Netanyahu.

Joe Biden told reporters, Schumer "expressed a serious concern shared not only by him but by many Americans," and most importantly, he confirmed that "Senator Schumer contacted my senior staff [at the White House that] he's going to make that speech," indicating coordination between Schumer's office and Biden's team.

Israeli analyst Alon Pinkas, in Haaretz on March 15, 2024, described the speech by the Democratic Senate leader as laying out a new American equation: Yes to Israel, no to Netanyahu.

Jerusalem Post reported on March 13, 2024, quoting a senior Israeli political official as saying that the Biden administration is attempting to topple Netanyahu's government.

The official added, "We expect our friends to act to overthrow the terror regime of Hamas and not the elected government in Israel."

Yedioth Ahronoth on March 14, 2024, stated that this highly-placed Israeli official, who criticized America's attempt to impose a new Israeli government instead of Netanyahu's government, may be Netanyahu himself, who clashed with Joe Biden.

These American pressures were compounded by a poll conducted by Maariv on March 15, 2024, which indicated that "if elections were held now, the anti-Netanyahu camp would win 64 seats [winning to form a government requires 61 seats]."

This is against a significant decline for the ruling far-right coalition led by Benjamin Netanyahu, which would only get 47 seats.

Saving 'Israel'

Statements from key figures in the Joe Biden administration and Congress revealed their fear of the collapse of the Zionist state as a whole due to Operation al-Aqsa Flood and the extremist right-wing Netanyahu coalition's handling of Gaza with "Nazi" methods.

The fragmentation and division of Israeli society and the rebellion of soldiers and generals were evident. Joe Biden described Operation al-Aqsa Flood as an event that will change the world, and its echoes will reverberate throughout the 21st century, according to Axios on March 14, 2024.

These fears led Joe Biden and American leaders, after months of what was almost "unconditional" support for the Israeli Occupation, to adopt a gradually more critical tone toward Netanyahu's policies, turning his aggression in Gaza into genocide and a humanitarian crisis, damaging Israeli Occupation's image and security.

American journalist of Jewish descent Aaron Gell hinted at other reasons for this intervention to save "Israel" from itself (from Netanyahu) and to preserve it, pointing out that support for Zionism has declined in the United States to the extent that a large number of American Jews openly describe themselves as "anti-Zionists."

Gell affirmed that a survey released by Progressive for Reform on November 5, 2023, showed support from over 60% of American voters to stop the ceasefire in Gaza, and he predicted that the Israeli Occupation's image would only improve if Netanyahu were to leave.

Among the American pressures on the Netanyahu government, after Americans and congressional representatives criticized the heavy American weaponry flowing to Tel Aviv, used in war crimes and genocide threatening Washington's "image," came requests for "assurances" regarding the "use of weapons" in Gaza.

Minister of army Yoav Gallant was forced on March 14 to sign a letter of assurance addressed to the Joe Biden administration, affirming Israeli Occupation's commitment to using American weapons in accordance with international law, also allowing the entry of humanitarian aid supported by the United States into Gaza, according to Israeli and American officials speaking to Axios.

A Possible Coup

When American officials talk about the necessity of "Israel" getting rid of Netanyahu, they refer to the usual method, which is elections, demanded by protesters since Operation al-Aqsa Flood. However, analysts do not rule out an unusual scenario: a military coup.

They see that some of the indicators of this military coup are internal, while others are encouraged by American intelligence entities, indicating that it is not a coup in the conventional sense seen in developing countries, but rather military pressure from the Israeli Occupation leaders forces Netanyahu to step down.

Internally, there has been a rise in rebellion among officers and soldiers in the army against their political leadership. The phenomenon of soldiers disobeying orders has spread, with complaints from leaders that the army is exhausted and the number of dead and wounded is increasing, while Netanyahu only cares about protecting himself from the gallows if he stops the aggression.

Military analysts increasingly speak of "losing the war" strategically, no matter the destruction and killing "achieved" in Gaza.

It was notable that there were Israeli social media accounts questioning why a tank was present on Kaplan Street in central Tel Aviv, the street known for protests demanding Netanyahu's removal, following increased tension and clashes between police and protesters, which is an unusual occurrence.

One of the latest indicators of this military coup was the public speech by the commander of the 98th Division, Brigadier General Dan Goldfuss, in which he criticized political officials, telling them that they must be worthy of the soldiers in the army.

Goldfuss urged politicians and Netanyahu's government to avoid sharp disputes among themselves so that "Israel" could be healed from the aftermath of Operation al-Aqsa Flood.

Addressing the Israeli leaders from all political spectrums, he said they have been fighting since October 7, and they will take responsibility for every action, but those leaders must be worthy of the warriors, and their efforts and sacrifices should not go in vain.

Brigadier General Dan Goldfuss's speech was highly unusual and underscored the seriousness of the situation, emphasizing the need for unity and responsibility among political leaders during this critical time for the nation's survival.

The army was forced to intervene, and a statement issued by its spokesperson mentioned that the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Herzi Halevi, severely reprimanded the commander of the 98th Division on March 15, 2024, due to his behavior contrary to what was expected from a senior leader in the army.

The statement indicated that Halevi informed Goldfuss that he misused the trust put on him in a way that harms the state and breaches the boundaries between the political and military institutions, as reported by Yedioth Ahronoth.

This crisis was not over when a surprise came from the Israeli minister of army, Gantz, who stated they will not be able to overthrow Hamas, but he was actually expressing the disagreement between the army and Netanyahu's government. The army wants a political alternative to Hamas in Gaza, while Netanyahu insists on the army bearing the responsibility, which means being exhausted by Hamas fighters.

On March 16, Gantz stated that the Israeli army is paying the price for the lack of a political decision regarding who will rule Gaza after the war, pointing out that military rule of the sector will cost the lives of soldiers and deplete military resources.
