Despite the Promotion of Homosexuality in Europe, an Irish Bakery Refused to Prepare a 'Cake' Celebrating Gay Marriage

Despite the wide and persistent promotion of homosexuality as natural orientation and fundamental right in Europe, many organizations and individuals still adopt Anti-LGBT beliefs and attitudes. Many of them also campaign for the abolition of Homosexual public practices.
The Guardian reported: “A man has lost a seven-year legal battle against a Belfast bakery that refused to make him a cake emblazoned with the message ‘support gay marriage’ as the European court of human rights ruled that his claim was inadmissible.”
The European Court of Human Rights has dismissed the appeal in a long-running dispute that started in 2014 and was known as the "Gay Cake" case.
Ashers Bakery, a Christian-run company, rejected the cake's request, saying the logo conflicted with the owners' religious beliefs.
By refusing to comply, Lee accused the bakery of discriminated him on the basis of his sexual orientation and political beliefs.
The European court ruled Gareth Lee's case inadmissible after the UK judges said the plaintiff had "failed to exhaust domestic remedies" available to him in the UK courts.
Protecting Religious Values
The LGBT practices are intensively boosted and celebrated in Europe. However, the widespread propaganda for the same-sex intimate relations and even marriage triggered religious and conservative institutions’ condemnations. In Europe and US many organizations issued statements warning against homosexuality that is nurtured under misleading titles of “basic natural rights."
In November 2021, the Australian government introduced a new bill aimed at protecting religious people from a "cancellation culture."
Among other things, the bill would grant Catholic schools the right to dismiss teachers or expel gay students to protect religious values.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the Religious Bill, if passed, would ensure the protection of religious people and organizations, such as churches, for expressing their beliefs.
Morrison explained that the bill aims to protect people's "expression of belief" as long as it does not "harass, denigrate or intimidate anyone."
The Belgrade “Pride Marches” in Serbia are organized annually to support the country's LGBT community. To counter these gatherings, several hundred activists opposing the march held their own rally in a park in Kyiv expressing their opposition to the LGBT propaganda.
The “Pride Marches” were regularly banned because of the possible danger of violent counter demonstrations.
In 2014 Russia enacted a law prohibiting the “Gay Propaganda” and banning propaganda of homosexuality among minors and penalizing propaganda of bisexuality and transgender identity among minors.
Stop LGBT Propaganda
The independent UK-based global media platform openDemocracy conducted an investigation on 27 October 2020. The investigation revealed that: “US Christian rights groups linked to US President Donald Trump’s administration have spent millions pushing LGBT rights in Europe.”
The report stated that the right-wing U.S. groups spent more than $280 million in order to campaign against LGBT rights and to prohibit abortion worldwide since 2007, $90 million of this spending were in Europe.
The report listed the three main groups campaigning against the LGBT propaganda. First, the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), whose chief counsel Jay Sekulow is Trump’s personal lawyer. Second prominent group is the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF).
Reuters revealed that a group backed by the ADF alliance filed legal briefs against same-sex marriage in Italy. The ADF also supported the Northern Irish Christian bakers who refused to serve same-sex couples. It also campaigned against same-sex adoption in Austria and trans women in France seeking to legally change their gender by submitting arguments in cases at the European Court of Human Rights.
From her side, a spokeswoman for ADF International stressed that the “ADF International is a global human rights organization that protects fundamental freedoms and promotes the inherent dignity of all people.”
The third and strongest association against LGBT practices is the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. It spent $96 million to influence foreign laws and citizens, even though its spendings were unknown since 2015 when it was reclassified as a church association.
It is noteworthy that Homosexuality was one of the mental disorders included in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders until 1994, when it was deleted from the fourth edition due to the influence of political elites and the LGBT’s lobbies.
Many psychiatrists and scientists still consider homosexuality to be a disorder that needs treatment. Books and treatment programs are still published every year.
Hormonal Unbalance
Nadia Bouchaalah, representative of ASCA association for social and cultural action, told Al-Estiklal: “Hormonal unbalances and psychological disorders that some people suffer from cannot be denied. An example of these disorders is the psychological need to establish a relationship with a partner of the same sex.”
She added: “We do not deny the existence of such tendencies, but as human beings we establish a society that appeals to reason and that gives priority to the collective interest and to control individual whims that may have negative repercussions on society.”
She explained: “There are people who have a 'natural' inclination to rape children and others who have a 'natural' need to kill others. This type of tendencies cannot be justified and enacting laws that protect their needs does not make any sense. Because not all what is natural should be admissible.”
She emphasized: “Rather those needs should be stopped and treated with various techniques to help the individual control these abnormal tendencies that pose a threat to him first and to the structure of the family and society. Here, I stress the need to deal mercifully with people who have homosexual tendencies, but at the same time we should stand against making these abnormal behaviors acceptable. Unfortunately, various media outlets and European institutions promote perversion as ‘natural free’ choice that should be supported.”
She concluded: “As for the social and political aspect, the enactment of laws allowing marriage to a partner of the same sex is considered very unacceptable because of its repercussions on children who will grow up in families that do provide the basic psychological needs that parents of the same sex cannot give.”
