Celebrity Doctor Mehmet Oz has officially become the Republican Senate candidate of Pennsylvania as his opponent Dave McCormick conceded on Friday, May 3rd, 2022, despite Oz's razor-thin lead.

Oz will face Pennsylvania Lt. Governor John Fetterman in the general election of November after the AP prediction of Fetterman’s winning on election night.

This is expected to be one of the most watched Senate races in U.S. history.

Oz was endorsed by Trump and Fetterman who are seeking to fill the open Senate seat, and by doing so, gaining 50% of the US Senate control.

Dr. Oz Wins

Mehmet Oz, a Turkish-American television personality, will run as the next Republican senator for Pennsylvania after his opponent went out of the race.

McCormick said on Friday “we came so close.” He called Oz to congratulate him on winning the race and said that Oz has his full support.

After McCormick's congratulations, Dr. Oz tweeted Friday night saying he is “tremendously grateful” for McCormick’s support in the fall election.

“We share the goal of a brighter future for Pennsylvania & America,” he added.

“Now that our primary is over, we will make sure that this U.S. Senate seat does not fall into the hands of the radical left, led by John Fetterman. I look forward to campaigning in every corner of the Commonwealth for the next five months to earn the support of every Pennsylvanian.”

Dr. Oz will now compete with the Democratic candidate John Fetterman, who is still recovering from a stroke.

The two men fought each other to a standstill; the margin of votes between them attained a 0.5% automatic recount threshold.

Dr. Oz was best known as a TV heart surgeon thanks to his appearances on the Oprah Winfrey Show, he released a video before the recount even began, describing himself as the "presumptive Republican" nominee.

Dr. Oz says on his campaign website that if he is chosen, he will reverse Biden’s failed agenda, “incorporate financial literacy from an early age into education criteria,” in addition to securing the borders to stop “ghost flights” and “illegal immigrants,” from entering Pennsylvania airports.

The magazine reported that the doctor’s candidacy is a reminder that enabling celebrity pseudoscience can lead to enduring consequences.

“Indeed, as Senator Oz, he would bring pseudoscience to the table when crafting and voting on legislation that affects the health and welfare of Americans,” according to the same magazine.
