A Spanish newspaper has highlighted the position of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who is following in the footsteps of "Israel," the United States, and Europe in ignoring the Palestinian cause.

After his recent threat to revoke recognition of the Israeli occupation within a year, which he formulated before the United Nations, these promises have been called into question by the international community.

Pùblico said that the interventions of Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, before the United Nations General Assembly on September 24, 2021, confirm that the Palestinian issue and the increasing occupation of the West Bank, including Jerusalem, will never be resolved in a just and logical manner.

The newspaper added that while Bennett deliberately ignored the Palestinians in his speech, Abbas issued an ultimatum, giving Israel a year to recognize a Palestinian state, and otherwise, the president promised to revoke recognition of Israeli.

Faced with this situation, the international community was not affected by Bennett's blatant silence or Abbas' pathetic threat, which gives a clear idea that "he ended up surrendering to the absolute victory of Israeli and the defeat of the Palestinians; an issue that no longer concerns the international community even in its slightest details," according to the newspaper.

Serious Consequences

The newspaper noted that Abbas' warning comes after more than 15 years of his assumption of the presidency, a long period characterized by his close cooperation with “Israel,” especially in the security aspects, without the Palestinian president taking any step with a defensive effect.

On the other hand, during these 15 years, Abbas was characterized by submission to any whim of the occupying power.

The newspaper indicated that this position had dire consequences for the Palestinian people, who were watching Abbas lead them to the abyss. In this sense, it is not surprising that an opinion poll published this month revealed that 80 percent of the Palestinians want Abbas to step down.

At the same time, the poll results also explain why Abbas wants once again to whitewash his image by issuing this hollow ultimatum before the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The newspaper reported that this week, Palestinian social networks witnessed a wide spread of posts mocking Abbas in a humorous manner, despite the fact that anyone who dares to do so risks being harassed by the Palestinian security forces.

It should be noted here that the main role of the PA security forces is specifically reduced to maintaining the blockade on the West Bank, so that “Israel” can continue its unstoppable colonial expansion.

The newspaper pointed out that Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh considers that President Abbas "has held the international community responsible for ending the Israeli occupation."

However, it is known that figures such as the outgoing German chancellor, Angela Merkel, or French President Emmanuel Macron, are satisfied with the situation and do nothing to change it.

The newspaper pointed out that the paralysis of the international community "prevents any positive development of the conflict."

For his part, Bennett never referred to the occupation because he considers the West Bank to be already part of “Israel.”

Brutal Occupation

On the other hand, the Israelis and their international partners call those who dare to criticize the brutal occupation simply “anti-Semitic,” as they do on a daily basis, and while all this happens in cooperation with Abbas, Europeans debate whether Palestinian textbooks are “anti-Semitic.”

The goal, behind this controversy or others, is to open the fronts everywhere “so that there is no talk of the brutal occupation, the continuous Palestinian deaths, the daily violations and oppression, the theft of land and water, or the isolation that the Palestinian population is subjected to; which is what happens in broad daylight".

The newspaper reported that Europe's position on the Palestinian issue has become an exact copy of the American position with regard to “Israel.” In particular, Europe is now concerned about alleged "anti-Semitism" in Palestinian textbooks.

However, Europeans did not have time to realize that Israeli textbooks never describe the Palestinian issue or delineate the “Israeli” borders; This is not a coincidence, but because they do not recognize any borders while waiting for the occupation to solidify, and on this issue, MEPs do not consider it a form of incitement.

The newspaper added that MEPs also did not see that Bennett, only a few years ago, when he was Minister of Education, withdrew from schools a novel in which a Jewish novelist presented a conflict that was resolved through coexistence between Israeli and Palestinian personalities.

If that wasn't enough, the same Europeans who didn't speak up at the time now see "anti-Semitism" in Palestinian textbooks.

Moreover, when Israeli prosecutors decided not to indict the authors of Torah Hamilig, a religious book that justifies the killing of non-Jews under Jewish religious law and is still on sale in bookstores; The members of the European Parliament did not say a word.

The newspaper commented that the Europeans remained silent and did not consider this incitement, but their new anger is more surprising, especially when taking into account what is taught in rabbinic schools in the occupied territories and inside “Israel,” teachings that can only be compared to what is taught in the most extreme religious schools, but this is not within the interests of the European Parliament members.

Pùblico added that MEPs do not care what happens every day in the occupied territories; Where Jewish soldiers and settlers kill Palestinians, steal their land, uproot their trees, besiege them in their cities and towns, and steal their water. They also accuse the Palestinians of "terrorism" as easily as they accuse those who criticize the occupation of "anti-Semitism."

The newspaper noted that “Europe’s hypocrisy and contempt for the Palestinian issue, including many members of the European Parliament, is simply an example of ignoring the Palestinians, and one of its first consequences, in particular, is the realization of the Arab and Palestinian populations that Europeans are pessimistic and hypocritical like the Americans, especially led by Merkel and Macron.
